Education
Ms. Smith graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1998, where she received a BA in Political Science and Minors in both Spanish and International Studies. In 2002, Ms. Smith received her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law—New Orleans. While at Loyola, Ms. Smith was certified in International Legal Studies. She was also a member of Loyola’s Moot Court Staff and the Comment Editor for Loyola’s Maritime Law Journal.
Narrative
Ms. Smith is a native of Slidell, Louisiana. During the course of her education, Ms. Smith spent several semesters studying abroad at schools such as Kings College in London, England, The University of the Americas in Pueblo, Mexico, and The University of Vienna Law School in Vienna, Austria. While attending law school, Ms. Smith received the J. Skelly Wright Award for Exceptional Oral Ability for placing first in Loyola’s annual Moot Court competition. Ms. Smith was also named to the Order of Barristers by the Dean and faculty of the law school. Tara joined Blue Williams as an associate in April of 2003, after clerking with the firm during her last two years in law school.

Ms. Smith is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts and the United States District Court for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana. Ms. Smith is a member of the American Bar Association and the Louisiana State Bar Association. She is also a member of the Jefferson Young Leaders and Leaders in Action. Ms. Smith is a member of the New Orleans and Jefferson Chambers of Commerce, the New Orleans Claims Association and the New Orleans Bar Association.
