Education
Mr. Blankenship attended Jesuit High School in New Orleans, graduating in 1970. He then received a BA from Loyola University of New Orleans in 1974 and his Juris Doctorate from Tulane Law School in 1977.
Narrative
Mr. Blankenship’s practice includes medical malpractice defense, construction litigation, commercial litigation, general litigation and health care law. He has tried many complex cases involving construction disputes, including a two month long jury trial involving claims of defective construction of a major hotel, as well as other construction trials or arbitrations that have lasted between four and seven weeks. He has also tried numerous medical malpractice claims defending both physicians and hospitals in venues all over the State of Louisiana.

Mr. Blankenship has been a member since 1977 of the Louisiana State Bar Association, and is now a Fellow of that organization. He is admitted to practice before all of the Federal Courts of Louisiana, including the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has served as an adjunct professor of trial advocacy in Tulane Law School’s Trial Advocacy Program, and is active in the New Orleans Pro Bono Project. He is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute, Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, the New Orleans Bar Association, and Louisiana Association of Hospital Attorneys. He is also a frequent lecturer at CLE programs.
In addition, Mr. Blankenship holds a private pilot’s license with both commercial and instrument ratings, and enjoys flying and golf in his spare time. Mr. Blankenship holds an A/V® Peer Review Rated certification mark from Martindale-Hubbell.
