Education
Mr. Olivier graduated from Loyola University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science in 1985. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1990 where he was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Regional Moot Court Team.
Narrative
Mr. Olivier began his legal career as an assistant district attorney with the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office in 1990. In his first four months, Mr. Olivier prosecuted over fifty felony jury trials and was promoted to Senior Trial Assistant. Over the course of the next several years he prosecuted major narcotics cases in the Narcotic Strike Force, and served in the Violent Offender Strike Force specializing in homicide prosecutions. In 1996, Mr. Oliver was promoted to Deputy Chief of the Trial Division where he served for three years before becoming the Chief of the Screen Division.
Mr. Olivier entered private practice in 2001 as an Associate at Connick, Wimberly & DeLaup, where his practice consisted of insurance defense, commercial litigation, and workers’ compensation.
Richard was named partner in 2006 and brings with him over sixteen years of litigation experience. His expertise includes all aspects of trial and appellate practice.
Bars, Courts and Professional Affiliations
Richard is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, the Jefferson Bar Association, Federal Bar Association and practices before all Louisiana state and appellate courts as well as United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts.
