Education
Stephen Pizzo attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana beginning in 1971 and graduated second in his class in 1975. He was then accepted into a fellowship program with the University of Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee and received his masters degree in public administration in 1976. He entered Loyola Law School in 1976 and graduated in 1979 in the top fifteen percent of his class. Throughout law school Steve worked as a full time law clerk for the partners who now make up Blue Williams.
Narrative
Immediately after he graduated in 1979, Steve began an intense litigation practice. His first jury trial came two weeks after receiving his license to practice. For the next three years, he had full responsibility for a complete general casualty docket involving numerous trials, appellate arguments, and mediations.
In 1982 he began representing physicians in medical malpractice cases, becoming one of the first outside counsel for Louisiana’s doctor owned mutual insurance company. At the same time he began representing dentists in dental malpractice litigation. Over the next several years, the focus of his practice continued to be in the area of hospital, physician, dental and professional liability and this continues to be his primary specialization at the present time. As an adjunct to his litigation practice, he has also developed a corporate health care practice representing physicians, dentists and hospitals in numerous business transactions and corporate matters. Additionally, he is counsel for medical staff and hospitals doing revisions to medical staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and Policies and Procedures. He has been involved in many high profile cases and has argued successfully to the Supreme Court of the State of Louisiana. He frequently gives lectures and seminars on numerous health care issues. Today, Mr. Pizzo is one of the firm’s managing partners.

Mr. Pizzo is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana and is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, New Orleans Bar Association, Jefferson Bar Association, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute, Louisiana Hospital Association and New Orleans Claims Association. Mr. Pizzo holds an A/V® Peer Review Rated certification mark from Martindale-Hubbell.
