Education

Virgil received his Bachelor of Science in Finance, cum laude, from Louisiana State University in 1983, where he graduated in the top 7% of his class. Tulane University of Louisiana, awarded him the degree of Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 1987, where he finished in the top 11% of his class, At Tulane, he was a member of Order of the Barristers and Phi Alpha Delta, and served as a Justice on the Tulane Moot Court Board. He also won the Tulane Moot Court Trial Competition, and was a member of the Tulane National Trial Team.

Narrative

Virgil has been a partner in the firm since 1993, and has served as a managing partner and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He has served as lead trial counsel in a great number of cases in all three districts of the federal courts in Louisiana, as well as Louisiana state courts in a number of parishes, including Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, Terrebonne, LaFourche, Ascension, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany, Washington, East Baton Rouge, Pointe Coupee, Cameron, Grant, Caddo, Bossier, Richland, Avoyelles, Rapides, Vermillion, St. Charles, and Tangipahoa. Virgil has handled cases in virtually every state court in southern Louisiana with judgment values up to $20,000,000.00. He has handled appeals in every state appellate jurisdiction and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, as well as the Louisiana Supreme Court.

Virgil’s defense practice involves a diverse array of cases in all Louisiana state and federal courts, spanning the insurance defense and self-insured litigation arenas. He actively handles cases involving claims arising from premises liability, construction, product liability, auto and trucking liability, uninsured motorist, general casualty, as well as commercial litigation and business disputes in corporate and partnership settings.

Bars, Courts and Professional Affiliations

Virgil is a member of the American, Louisiana, New Orleans and Jefferson Bar Associations. He also maintains membership in the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. He is admitted to practice in all Louisiana courts, all Federal courts sitting in Louisiana, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal.
